Connecting the Dots
I would emphasize in making the dots, when one learns, and connecting the dots, when one thinks. Learning, then, is about making these various dots, so that one has the material to think with. Life in general is a collection of these dots, and books at times can replace or assist in connecting these dots[thinking].
The Weekend Warrior
The difference between the weekend warrior and the professional, is that one is capable of making good work consistently. I still remember this from Matt Archambault's class.
